OVERVIEW :
Ferghana has been known since ancient times as a region densely populated with people, with a developed economy and culture. Already in the middle of the 5th century BC, large cities and settlements appeared here, and the products of the masters of Ferghana were known far beyond its borders. Ferghana quickly caught the attention of China, which during the reign of Emperor Wu Di (2nd century BC) conquered East Turkestan and repeatedly sent ambassadors there. Soon one of the most important trade routes passed through Ferghana, connecting China and East Turkestan with the Middle East and Byzantium - the Silk Road.
